Maya Wood Pellets
Introduction
Established in September 2018, Maya Wood Pellets Sdn Bhd specializes in producing wood pellets. As a wood pellet manufacturer in northern Peninsular Malaysia, the company aims to produce cost-efficient and environmentally-friendly energy pellets. Wood pellets are a renewable energy source made by compressing byproducts such as sawdust and wood chips from the production of wood-based material. Wood pellets are currently the most widely used form of biomass fuel and its popularity continues to grow worldwide as people start realizing the importance of clean and sustainable energy.
Advantages
Maya wood pellets are natural, 100% hardwood species pellets with no additives or chemical binders and very low in moisture and ash content. They combust evenly and provide long-lasting, consistent heat, burn cleanly and meets the fuel pellet standard. Our energy pellets are classified into Premium grade (1% ash) and Standard grade (3% ash). Our products have been PEFC certified, a globally trusted trademark. This green logo assures our products come from sustainable sources.
Wood also is less expensive than most other fuel options. Pellets are a form of wood fuel, thus are usually cheaper than oil, natural gas or electricity.
Wood pellets are carbon neutral. Burning wood pellets releases the same amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere as if the wood was left to decompose naturally on the forest floor.
Maya Wood Pellet Production
Raw Material
Maya wood pellet production begins with the collection of raw material. The raw material used is sourced from the companies of BG Group. BG Group is one of the largest wood product manufacturers in Peninsular Malaysia with 5 plywood factories and 1 OSB plant. The byproducts from wood material production such as dry sawdust, core veneer and wood chips are the ideal raw material for wood pellet production.
Process Material
The hammer mill grinds and chops the smaller wood chips into very small particles for making wood pellets. Wood chips are reduced to sizes of 6mm and below to ensure the consistency of density in order to achieve a consistent heating value.
Drying
After the size reduction, the wood material must be dried. Moisture content is the key factor for making good wood pellets. In order to produce high quality pellets, the raw material must be uniformly dried until the moisture content level is below 15%.
Formation of the Pellets
Once the pellet raw material has reached the size and moisture requirement for wood pellet manufacturing, it will go through the pelletizing process. The high temperature and pressure of the machine melt the lignin in the wood fibres and it acts as natural glue to bind the particles together to form the pellet. No additional adhesives or chemical are required. Pellets are moulded by being pressed through the pellet dies of the sawdust pellet machine and are cut to the desired length.
Bagging and Storage
Wood pellets are vulnerable after the pelletizing process. It is hot and prone to deformation. The cooling process helps the pellets to regain their rigidity, density and hardness to ensure it is fit for use. Proper packaging and storage in a dry place are required to avoid moisture and deterioration.
